Let's Take a Journey

Very late to the game, but I finally played Journey yesterday. It was really beautiful, and definitely taught me something about the importance of having a companion.

(And that not everything is a race or a competition)

Many apologizes to the first player who tried to be my little traveling buddy.

Attack the Styles

Last week in Character Design Class, the assignment was to pick a few characters from an existing piece of fiction and design them in two different styles. One had to be based off of an art movement and the other was our choice.

I did Moses, Pest, and an Alien from Attack the Block! The styles are based on the Romanesque Movement and Powerpuff Girls.

This assignment was super fun! And thanks much to my teacher Phil for all his help this semester!

Nostalgia

Wanted to paint a little yesterday, and I'm in a very winter mood right now!

One thing I struggle with a lot is being loose when I draw, so I've been trying to keep a "pen only" sketchbook. My drawings are still pretty tight, but here's to hoping this will help eventually!

Commission work!

I have been taking commissions over on my tumblr, and its been really fun. It's also been really great practice drawing characters I wouldn't usually draw. (ok minus Thor and Loki, I would have drawn them anyway haha)

Movie with the Roomie: Thor

Watched Thor with my awesome roomie! We had differing opinions on a certain mischievous character, but we both agreed that Thor himself was beautiful and adorable.

Creepy and Kooky

This week for Character Design we were supposed to do the Addams Family. I didn't get a chance to do everyone, but here is what I got finished!

(Y'know what's really scary? Films are due in two weeks! AAH!)

Coast 2 Coast

We had an assignment in character design to re-imagine a Hannah- Barbera property. I couldn't help but do Space Ghost!

No Jace, but the overall idea is that Space Ghost is just a dude who lives in space and assumes he is a super hero. Ge forces his niece, Jan, to be his sidekick, to her embarrassment.

Zorak is the size of an actual mantis who has a personal vendetta against Space Ghost. Space Ghost doesn’t know he exits, Zorak tries to kill him in pretty silly ways. Like switching his sugar with artificial sweetner.

And Brak…. I wanted to make him pudgy hahha

Monster in Paris sketch dump

So, this weekend at the LA Animation Festival, I went to an english screening of "Un Monstre a Paris" (A Monster in Paris)

It was seriously, one of the most adorable movies I've seen recently, and I loved the heck out of the monster.

(ok, that bottom image never happens in the movie. But someone brought up that the monster is a giant flea so...)

Now back to work on portfolio and film!
